Protestantism Beliefs

I need some serious help about Protestantism….?

I am a Roman Catholic and I do not agree with some of the beliefs. So I started looking at different religions. So I saw Protestantism and it seems to be everything I agree with. So just so I know I am not misinformed can someone please tell me the main beliefs of Protestantism. Thank you very much, this will help me a lot.

There is no unified protestant group. They come in all shapes and sizes and even within one group (for exampe: Presbyterian) they aren’t united as to what they believe.

Here are some of the main tenents:
-sola scriptura. The Bible alone suffices. It’s a rejection of hierarchy (i.e. the Pope) or Tradition. The problem with this is that Tradition existed before the Bible did. In fact, Tradition cannonized the Bible.
-the Holy Spirit will guide. It’s the thought that each person can figure out the truth because the Holy Spirit will guide each individual. This has problems as well because there is no unified consensus. Obviously there can be only one truth, not multiple truths (for the same issue, anyway)–so they can’t all be right. But, how do you decide who is truly led by the Spirit and who is right?
-Rejection of the 7 sacraments (Baptism, confirmation, Communion/Eucharist, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Matrimony, Holy Orders). All Christians have baptism and some denominations have some of the others, but none have all 7.
-the Eucharist. Catholics believe that we we have communion that it is literally the Body and Blood of Christ. (read John 6:52-58 for just one reference) However, most other Christians believe that it’s just a symbol. Some might believe that it’s not a symbol, but their theology is a little different from Catholics on that matter.

Just curious, which beliefs do you not agree with? Have you researched why the Church teaches what she teaches on those matters? Through the years, there have been beliefs that I really struggled with (for example, her teachings on contraception) and sometimes outright refused to believe……..but with time and more research (and prayer to God to guide me to the Truth), I began to understand more and even change my opinion. Feel free to email me if you want to discuss more.

disclaimor: There’s a lot more that Catholics and Protestants agree on than disagree one. I just focused on the disagreements here because of the nature of the question.

The Bible proves Catholic beliefs that most protestants deny, part 1

“Reforming Protestantism has undergone drastic changes throughout its history in America. Although it has become less prominent in American society, this particular Christian movement with its distinctive characteristics, Douglas Ottati reminds us, is still a dynamic and important witness to our world. This book is an important contribution to promoting, deepening, and extending the distinctive spirit and witness of reforming Protestantism.”

The Lost Soul of American Protestantism

The Lost Soul of American Protestantism

$27.95

“In The Lost Soul of American Protestantism, D. G. Hart examines the historical origins of the idea that faith must be socially useful in order to be valuable. Through specific episodes in Presbyterian, Lutheran, and Reformed history, Hart presents a neglected form of Protestantism–confessionalism–as an alternative to prevailing religious theory. He deftly argues that the history of confessional Protestantism is vitally important to current discussions on the role of religion in American life, as it is more concerned with the prosperity of the community of believers than with the spiritual health of the nation as a whole. Hart suggests that, contrary to the legacy of revivalism, faith may be most vital and influential when it is not practical.”
