Bad organizations using spiritual symbols?

This has been on my mind for a while. Last year over the summer when I was watching this documentary, there was one about this goddess river in India and its history. Then I saw that the poles had a ‘nazi’ symbol on top next to the river. And when I was doing research about the BNP I saw this other website about this other racist organization with the Tera symbol which represents earth. Did the Nazi’s took the symbol and used it as their own? Probably yeah, but why would they use spiritual symbols turning into their own?

The swastika or footed cross is one of our oldest human symbols. It’s earliest known appearance is in neolithic Eurasia. The Nazi swastika is actually footed in the opposite direction which is an interesting footnote because it actually reverses the regular swastika which has always been considered a symbol for good fortune. Rudyard Kipling signed his name with a swastika and in American culture, trivets and quilts and key chains as well as other common items can all be found with swastika symbols. All of this was of course before the Nazis. Unfortunately Heinrich Schliemann discovered the symbol at the archaeological site of Troy and wrote a book connecting it to similar symbols on ancient Germanic pottery. The Nazi party took it up as an ancient Aryan symbol following the example of WWI far right German Nationalists.
